It’s that time of year where rising 6th graders are deciding what instrument they want to learn in middle school and probably have a lot of questions.
My first advice is choose carefully! It would be a good idea to try as many different instruments as you can before you decide which one is the best fit for you. Some music stores or music schools will have a day when you can try out all the different types of instruments. Look for some instrument petting zoos near you. UNCSA Community Music School is having an open house August 13th and will have an instrument petting zoo available.
Once you have picked the instrument you want to learn, be sure to do some research in order to find out the best brands for beginner level instruments. You want an instrument that is well made and receives positive reviews. If you choose to study the flute, then you can use my Recommended Flutes web page to help kick start your research. I’m proud to say that I’m now a vendor for my favorite student model flute, Pearl Flutes, and I can offer the lowest price on a brand new Pearl Flute with free shipping in the US.
Good luck instrument shopping!!
